Anesthesia is widely used in surgical and non-surgical procedures. This numbing agent allows patients to have little no pain about having to suffer during the surgery, so it is very convenient. If the body is to have some sort of incision, the patient generally requests that an anesthetic be used. Depending on the length and intensity of the surgery, the appropriate anesthetic will be used. Anesthetics are now also commonly used in dental offices. With teeth being drilled into and removed anesthetics are almost required to keep the patient calm and willing to have the surgery. Epidural and twilight anesthetics are used during procedures such as cesarean sections and brain surgery. These surgeries are much different than others because the patient must be awake during them to ensure that they are okay during the process.
